Martin began his political career in 1997 when he was elected to the Rock Springs City Council. In 1999 he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Sweetwater County Commission and served in that position through 2000. He served as chairman of the Sweetwater County Democratic Party from 2001 through 2003. He was elected to the Wyoming House of Representatives House District 48 in 2003 and is presently running for the State Senate in District 12.
During Martin’s time in the State House of Representatives, he has sponsored numerous pieces of legislation that have been signed into law. Martin has been an advocate for senior citizens, grandparents who are raising their grandchildren who have been the victims of abuse, working men and women of the state, education, local governments, and sportsmen.
If elected, Martin hopes to use the experience and knowledge of the legislative process that he has gained while serving in the Wyoming House of Representative to represent the residents of Senate District 12.
